The Dodge County Concert Association was formed in 1947 when a group of music lovers felt a need to provide good music at reasonable prices for the Beaver Dam area.
Many different styles of musical artists have been presented for our members to experience and enjoy through the years, including jazz, folk, bluegrass, classical, pop, country, Broadway, Celtic, etc., with selections featuring vocal and instrumental music. The artists we select with the help of our talent acquisition partner, Allied Concert Services, are highly skilled, well trained, professional musicians from all over the country and the world. Admission to the concerts is by season membership subscription only, with the concert season beginning in fall and lasting through spring.
A small group of volunteers has been keeping this organization alive and bringing wonderful music and entertainment from around the country and around the world to audiences right here in Beaver Dam. We have a volunteer board of 15 directors who meet once a month (currently at Peace Lutheran Church) to plan concerts, select artists, budget, solicit grants, memberships, sponsors, patrons and donors through mailings and personal calls and to distribute tickets to our members prior to the first concert of each season. We are a registered 501 ( c ) ( 3 ) non-profit organization, so donations to our organization may be tax deductible as allowed by law. We are a BD Area Chamber of Commerce Member as well.
The Dodge County Concert Association presents five concerts each season. We start planning the next season’s programs even before the first concert of the current season. We strive to provide our members with a variety of musical types and styles to experience and explore. We are privileged to hold our concerts at the Beaver Dam High School Auditorium (absent scheduling conflicts), which is a fantastic venue for experiencing live music, and we are blessed to have the help of our wonderful sound and light technician, Auditorium Manager Gregery Ritchart, to make sure the audience enjoys fine quality performances in fine quality conditions. We also have a reciprocity agreement with the Watertown Concert Series that allows our members access to their four concerts FREE !!!!!
In partnership with and support from The Beaver Dam Area Community Foundation, the Beaver Dam High School Music Department and School Administration, and generous sponsors, patrons and donors including the Abfall Family Fund and The Geddeis Charitable Foundation, we have been able to establish and present a series of Student Enrichment Programs to BD High School students. We arrange for our concert artists to come to the high school during the school day to perform, demonstrate, meet with, inform and engage the students in question and answer sessions. Those students are then invited to be our guests free of charge at the artists’ full evening concert. We have had a wonderful response from the students and the faculty, and the artists really enjoy working with our young people, who are the future of music.
Season Membership sales provide only a portion of the funds we need each season to hire our artists and provide the concerts to our members. With the help of extra financial support from sponsors, patrons and donors, we have been able to hold the cost of season memberships at a very reasonable level. An adult membership costs $60, which entitles the member to attend all five BD Concerts PLUS Watertown’s four concerts. Family Memberships and student memberships are also available at bargain prices.
At the beginning of each concert, thanks to the generosity of Benvenuto’s Italian Restaurant and BD Pizza Ranch, we hold a door prize drawing for our attendees, who must be present to win.
