RE: Postponements Update

May 8 still appears to be the end of the CDC’s directive to avoid large gatherings. With the daily news stream it seems increasingly likely that no concerts will occur in May.  This probably means that all of Allied’s spring tours will be postponed including your schedule performances.

From what we’ve heard, the large majority of you hope to reschedule the postponed concerts.  Allied would strongly prefer to reschedule as many concerts as possible.  The artists very strongly hope to play the concerts on a rescheduled tour basis.  So that’s what we’re going to try hard to do!

Unfortunately the fluid nature of the coronavirus pandemic makes finding a firm and safe date from which to begin rescheduling difficult.  Yet if we don’t optimistically look ahead and make plans, it will be impossible to instantly turn the concert switch on once the “all clear” is formally announced.  We have been discussing available tour periods with the artists.  Many of these tours will be in June/July and if it turns out that safety needs will not permit, then we’ll reassess.  Quite of few dates will have to be moved into the 20-21 season and we’ll do our best to maximize time between shows.

Paul and I believe that there are better days ahead!  Live performing arts will eventually return to form the backbone of your community cultural life.  The performances will serve as a joyous opportunity to once again see and socialize with your family, friends and neighbors while enjoying a talented and entertaining artist.

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call us.

Organization Purpose
The Huron Area Concert Association was established in 1971.  We are looking forward to celebrating our 50th anniversary in 2021 with outstanding world class concerts!  We are located in Huron, South Dakota, home of the South Dakota State Fair.  Our mission is to cultivate interest in music, provide a variety of concerts and build a permanent concert audience.  We are proud to provide a variety of cultural experiences that are not normally available to smaller communities in a rural area.  We are honored to partner with Allied Concert Services and enjoy a friendly reciprocity agreement with the concert associations in Mitchell, Redfield, Gettysburg and Pierre.  Our audience members reach across nearly 20 counties in eastern South Dakota. And we are tremendously appreciative of our many volunteer partners who continue to give of their time and talent by selling memberships and assisting at concert events.

Huron Area Concert Association is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) organization registered with the State of South Dakota.  Our primary support comes in large part, and with much appreciation, from our many faithful season membership patrons and generous contributions from our many friends and business partners.  The Huron Community Foundation has also been very generous and we thank them for their support.  Our hosts at Huron High School have been most gracious in allowing us to utilize their fine auditorium, along with their capable student and custodial staff.
